All hockey cancelled until May 2nd due to the global Covid-19 crisis

We are regularly reviewing advice from the Ministry of Health and Wellington Hockey association. We are continuously updating our procedures to reflect the latest advice.

The health and safety of our volunteers and players is our priority. Please stay away from the hockey turf and pavilion. It is currently closed to all patrons and there is to be no training’s of individuals or small groups.

By now you may have heard that Hockey NZ, along with other sporting codes, has put a stop on all games, tournaments, training and other hockey activity until May 2. This is in response to the growing COVID-19 pandemic.

You can see Hockey NZ’s announcement here, [link]; and Wellington Hockey’s facebook post.

What does this mean for us in Kāpiti Coast Hockey Club?

Well, for now that means all of our pre-season games against Karori and Upper Hutt are postponed. We have cancelled all trainings until at least 2nd May.

The Kāpiti Turf Trust have closed the turf and pavilion.

Wellington Hockey are still working on what will happen when the season recommences, and will be in touch with clubs about that after they’ve had a bit more time to consider it.

But for now, that’s all the information we have.

As a committee we will keep you up to date with developments as we become aware of them. We will be participating in the Wellington Hockey AGM on Monday 30th March, via video conference. We’ll let you know what happened after that, along with any developments before then.

For now, we urge you to check out the New Zealand government COVID-19 website for more information about keeping yourself safe: https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/diseases-and-conditions/covid-19-novel-coronavirus

Please take care everyone, and we’ll be in touch soon
